Terrible Haute, Here I Come

I got sucked into going to a reading textbook display/demo in Terre Haute tomorrow, since this is a reading textbook adoption year.  I really don't mind except we are supposed to have 1-2" of snow during the morning commute.  WHY does snow fall just before dawn every stinkin' time????  I left plans for the sub (which takes more time than just being there in person).  In any case, unless the weather is worse than expected, I'll head west on the morrow.

I really didn't want to teach 8th grade.  When the news was finally revealed that our district was finally going to go to a middle school format, I had a nagging feeling that I was going to get stuck.  As it happened, the colleague who was chosen to be the middle school principal was asked to pick who she wanted to take with her to the middle school for English.  She chose me.  (I didn't know that in the beginning.)  At first, I considered that it amounted to the high school principal wanting to get rid of me.  Since the move, however, I have experienced a measure of trust and respect from the administration that has been missing for a lot of years.  Never mind that I am within a few mere years of retirement!  In any case, it is nice to be in a position of confidence for a change.  What I find is that the more they trust me, the better I perform.  Funny how that happens!

Anyway, 'tis time for me to find clothes for tomorrow and hit the sack.  Ciao!
