But Officer, I Wasn't Speeding!

I was talking on ham radio and enjoying my commute home this afternoon when I went past a State Police car in a hiding spot on the interstate, running radar.  I looked back (as I always do), only to see him turn on his lights and follow me onto the exit ramp in Plainfield.  Ack!  I had been speeding, just a little, prior to running into him...but only to pass a bunch of semis so I could change lanes to exit.  By the time I saw him, I wasn't speeding, though!  He pulled in behind me.  My little heart was going pitter-pat in nervous anticipation.  What did I do???  I watched him put on his Smokey-the-Bear hat and get out of his vehicle to approach mine.  At that point, I recognized Mr. Smokey as my former student and ham "brother" Daniel.  He had been listening to me on the radio in his cruiser and decided to stop me, just to say hi.  I told him he just about gave me a heart attack!  (Okay, Daniel...we're even for my reporting you to the football coach for acting up in class, way back when.  Now don't do that again!)

I'm certain I have written about Daniel before--probably when I returned from his Police Academy Graduation a year or so ago.  I am extremely proud of that young man!  (Not so much for giving an old lady palpitations, but for what he has accomplished.)

Today was the last day of ISTEP testing...until spring.  I can FINALLY get back to regular curriculum and sink my teeth into content.  Yeah!

More later...
