My dear friend, Patrick McPherson, was sent to ICU from his regular hospital room this afternoon, near respiratory collapse. The pneumonia for which he is being treated isn't responding to medication. His lungs are actually worse now than they were when he was admitted to the hospital several days ago. He is receiving 100% oxygen. If he needs more, they will put him on a ventilator. They still don't know the nature of the problems with the lungs and are considering open-lung surgery to see what's going on in there. Not good.
