Field Trip

Today, the MMS eighth grade went to Conner Prairie for their "Follow the North Star" experience. Students were to be fugitive slaves on the Underground Railroad. We have gone for the program the previous two years. This particular class didn't get a field trip last year because the teachers were apprehensive about potential behavior problems. I am happy to say that, for the most part, it went well.

The good part: the sun was shining. It wasn't raining, snowing, or sleeting. It was pretty chilly, however, with wind. I had activities for the kids who had to wait for their group to go, and all went fairly well. When we got back, we were (three times in three years) met with an unhappy substitute teacher. Those who didn't go didn't behave well. That's another story for another day.

This year, I didn't have to deal with The Hill. Heh heh. In years past, they have sent us down a hill, around a field, and back up a hill where I huffed and puffed just to get to the top. Because of construction on the site, this year there was no hill. I still had trouble keeping up with the kids!

Meg and the children made an Easter version of a gingerbread house tonight. It's cute. Easter is going to come whether I'm ready for it or not!

Ciao.
